Sobir Kurbanov leads CIPE's strategy implementation to advance governance and market reforms in Central Asia. He manages projects and grants and builds partnerships with donors, including the US State Department and USAID. 

He has worked with various development agencies in Central Asia and currently serves as a consultant at the World Bank. He holds a degree in Economic Policy and Management from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He holds a degree in Economic Policy and Management from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow with focus on public sector economics and international finance.
